Brand Story

LIFETIME Kidsrooms - a brand of the family-owned company M. Schack Engel A/S Children's furniture brand

LIFETIME Kidsrooms is there since 1972, the company M. Schack Engel A/S, however, can look back on decades of experience in the furniture business. The history of furniture manufacturing in Denmark Højer goes back to 1924 when Lars Hans Engel, the grandfather of the current company owner, opened a timber repair workshop. His son, Martin Schack Engel took over the company in 1958, expanded the portfolio and established the workshop in the following years to a small furniture manufacturing.

The special feature: All the furniture are made of pine wood and kept the items with wooden wedges together.

Due to strong demand, the company focused on children and youth furniture and invested in personnel and equipment for furniture production. This was the same time as the starting point of a successful bed system, which in 1974 started as "Classic System", the direct predecessor of today's "LIFETIME Kidsrooms Original". A development that has been driven by the third generation of the Engel family strongly ahead. Lars and John Engel rose in 1982 in the company, and eight years later a sales company in the M. Schack Engel A/S.

Finally, they took over in 1992 both companies and merged them in 2008 to M. Schack Engel A/S. The two brothers are supported on the board today by co-owner Keld Nielsen. To date, all LIFETIME Kidsrooms Original furniture is manufactured in our own family - using expert cabinetmakers and woodworkers and an ultra-modern machine park. The theme worlds are created in collaboration with numerous designers, implemented with the latest trends to bring children dreams to life.

In 1938 the Habermaass GmbH was founded as a “factory for fine wooden toys”. Today, toys don’t necessarily have to be made of wood, but they still have to be right for children! The HABA brand is sold worldwide in 50 different countries. Well over 10,000 specialty retailers across the globe recognize us as “children's inventors,” “Inventori per bambini”, “Opfinder for børn” or “Inventor para niños”. HABA products are regularly showcased at all major trade fairs around the world. Being a recognized global player is essential to HABA’s success.

It all began in Bad Rodach where our first wooden toys rolled off the production line. In fact, all our products are designed, produced and tested here. Every day, a team of designers and game editors put their minds together to create games and toys that meet the needs and interests of children. They tinker about, design, draw up, test and play until they’re thoroughly satisfied and a new HABA product is born.
